A household ledger, built for one home
HomeBook keeps everything about your home in one place — the things you own, the vehicles you drive, the documents you'd hate to lose, and the money that keeps it all running.
Every record starts on your device. Sync is optional, never required.
What's new · versions 1.1 – 1.5
Everything below is in the latest HomeBook on Google Play. The user manual marks each addition since 1.0 as NEW.
What's inside
Every entity is scoped to your home — on your phone, and in your own private cloud backup when you sign in.
Appliances, furniture, electronics — with purchase date, warranty, and where you keep the receipt.
Insurance, PUC, service history, and a running-cost view of what each one actually costs you.
Attach the file once. Know exactly when a warranty runs out, before it does.
A service log for anything that needs upkeep, tied back to the Thing or Vehicle it belongs to.
Renewal dates, service due dates, anything with a deadline — surfaced before it's urgent.
Expenses with subcategories, income, savings, recurring payments and loan EMIs, and per-category budgets — plus spending analytics, PDF statements, a Notebook View, and a Money Calendar and Timeline to look back on any month.
Planned expenses for festivals and trips, expected vs actual — and Upcoming Money showing what to keep aside.
Who owes you, who you owe, partial repayments, and money sent or received — outside your everyday spending.
Photos and PDFs attached directly to the record they belong to — stored on your phone, synced to your household when you sign in.
Keep the people in your home on record — note who paid for what, and remember their birthdays.
Birthdays, anniversaries and housewarmings remembered every year, and festival heads-ups with an offer to set money aside.
Every module above works fully without a network connection — sync is the exception, not the foundation.
Smart Expense Capture
Point the camera at a receipt, or paste a payment message shared from another app. On-device text recognition pulls the merchant, amount, and date — you confirm the category, and it becomes an Expense.
Or turn on Smart Expense Detection (optional, Android): when Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM or a supported bank app notifies you of a completed payment, HomeBook shows a "New expense detected" notification and puts it in Needs review for you to check and add — nothing is added on its own.
Google ML Kit and simple on-device rules — not a cloud AI request. No image, message or notification text ever leaves your phone to parse it, and notification text is never saved.

Budget pacing
HomeBook checks your spending against your budget and the pace you're on to finish the month — entirely with arithmetic over numbers already on your device. You hear about it once each at 70%, 80%, 90% and 100%, never more.
No model, no server. Quiet hours from 10 PM to 7 AM, a switch for every kind of alert, and several events arrive as one summary — not a feed to monitor.
Data handling
If you never sign in, every record and attached file stays on your device — only anonymous crash reports and usage counts are sent, never your records. Sign in only when you want a cloud backup, and even then your household's records and files go to a private store only your account can open. No ads, no data sale, no third-party trackers.
